THE ROLE
We are seeking a talented Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Design to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will have a solid background in PIC design, layout, experience of executing engineering projects and be an excellent communicator and will be split between designing RF systems at component level, and providing technical leadership for the development of projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and simulate photonic integrated circuit components including modulators, photodiodes, filters, waveguides, couplers, and switches
- Define performance requirements and interface specifications across optical and electrical domains
- Develop layouts and routing for PIC designs across multiple material platforms
- Model and optimize optical interfaces at the package level, including coupling strategies and alignment approaches
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system behavior
- Collaborate across disciplines (architecture, physics, photonics, fabrication, mechanical engineering) to define systems and requirements to support quantum computing and demonstrate systems meeting performance requirements
- Utilize simulation tools to validate performance and guide design decisions
- Contribute to RF, analog, and mixed-signal design efforts where required
- Work with external partners and suppliers to refine processes and ensure reliable component performance
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-have Technical skills:
- PhD Degree minimum
- Minimum 6+ years of experience (advanced degree inclusive) with photonic integrated circuits (PIC) design using photonic simulation tools (Lumerical, RSoft, or similar guided mode and FDTD solvers) and layout tools (Klayout, GDSFactory, or similar)
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience (advanced degree inclusive) using and maintaining optical/photonic systems
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems

- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide less experienced engineers

- High level of integrity and professionalism in representing the company and handling sensitive information.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS
- Founder Call (30 min) – mutual introduction and interest alignment
- Technical Interview (60 min) – fundamentals, reasoning, and problem-solving
- Presentation (45 min) – short presentation on a topic of your choice, to assess clarity, structure, and confidence in presenting your work
- HR & Culture Call (45 min) – values, collaboration style, and ways of working
- Offer & Next Steps (30 min) – offer walkthrough, alignment on details, and next steps, discussed in a final call with the founder.
