About the role: At Vantage, the Senior or AVP Underwriter (based on experience) is a member of our Primary Casualty team. The mission of the team is to add creativity to tech-enabled efficiency and robust analytics to address risks others avoid. This role will be responsible for underwriting Primary Casualty business according to authority level and established guidelines. This role reports to our Head of Primary Casualty, and we prefer this position to be based in the Midwest or West Coast region; however, we are flexible in terms of location, with both remote and in-office options available for the right candidate. The base salary expectation for this role is between $140,000 and $200,000. Actual base salary for the selected candidate may be higher commensurate with candidate experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities: • Reviewing submissions to ensure alignment with risk appetite and business strategy. • Generate new business by working with brokers and clients to find innovative ways to deploy products. • Analyze complex risks and unusual transaction structures thoroughly and effectively. • Perform underwriting activities associated with the management of all underwriting transactions, service standards and compliance rules and documentation. • Demonstrate a customer service mindset by proactively engaging internal and external contacts. • Collaborate and correspond with internal and external contacts, to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations. • Interact directly with various business partners and internal departments. • Meet departmental service standards in place for each process. • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned under minimal supervision. • As a new company we fully acknowledge the scope of each colleague’s job will change over time. Ideal Candidate Profile: • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience. • At least five years of Primary Casualty Experience required. • Midwest (Chicago and surrounding areas) or West Coast Relationships and contact preferred. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. • Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth new-company environment.
