Social Media Specialist

VisitNorfolk is a non-profit that positively promotes the City of Norfolk’s unique experiences and expansive amenities to residents and visitors. They are seeking a Social Media Specialist to assist in social media execution, gather information, and collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to promote Norfolk effectively. Responsibilities Complies and updates information for the calendar of events and makes daily updates to the VisitNorfolk website Assists the Digital Content Manager in updating business listings on the VisitNorfolk website Captures photography and videography to be used across all social media channels Plans and schedules all posts for VisitNorfolk’s social media channels based on the Digital Content Manager’s content calendar Regularly monitors the engagement happening across social media including but not limited to Facebook, X, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and TikTok Stays updated of social media trends and algorithms Assists the Communications Manager in collecting information on attractions, restaurants and other visitor amenities for media inquiries Maintains an inventory of imagery on Crowdriff in support of the public relations, marketing and social media efforts Assist in writing, editing, proofreading and researching for PR pitches, press releases, blog articles and other marketing documents Assists in preparation of marketing and communication reports Projects a positive image of VisitNorfolk and displays a positive attitude in all internal and external communications Other duties as assigned Skills 1 year of related experience Strong writing, social media, and organizational skills Associate or bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience in marketing, PR, or communications Benefits Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision plans 401(k) retirement plan with company matching Flexible Spending Account options Voluntary Benefits options Generous PTO banks (starting with 23 days earned in the 1st year), 14 paid holidays, and flexible scheduling options all lend to a work/life balance Company paid-for for training opportunities and certifications Hybrid work options Paid parking Company sponsored short-term, long-term, and life insurance Engaging company events such as team building activities, annual family Tides game, end of year celebration, and quarterly Adopt a Spot cleanups Numerous opportunities to explore and enjoy all that Norfolk has to offer!
