HOACNY provides cancer care services, Monday through Friday, day hours at three convenient locations in East Syracuse, Camillus and Auburn. The nurse navigator's primary function is guiding cancer patients through the health care system by assisting with access issues, developing relationship with physicians and other service providers, tracking interventions and outcomes and quality/data entry. Requirements Basic Knowledge, Skills and Education Requirements: • OCN certification preferred. • Registered nurse with 3 or more years of experience in oncology nursing setting preferred. • Medical surgical nursing experience preferred. • BSN preferred. • The cancer navigator must have outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills. The individual must posses knowledge of lung, esophageal, stomach, anal and colorectal cancer, treatment modalities, cancer genetics community resources and healthcare structure and function.
