This a Full Remote job, the offer is available from: United States Chemistry Expert (PhD) Hourly Contract | Part-time Remote US | $65–$85 per hour Role Overview A leading AI research initiative is recruiting Chemistry PhDs to participate in a flagship project advancing the capabilities of large language models (LLMs). In this role, you will apply your expertise across organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, and biochemistry to design and evaluate complex chemistry problems. Your work will ensure that AI systems achieve the highest standards of scientific rigor, clarity, and accuracy. Key Responsibilities • Create and assess advanced problems across organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, and biochemical domains • Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, chemical reasoning, and relevance • Provide detailed written feedback on problem sets, mechanisms, and solutions • Collaborate asynchronously with AI engineers and researchers to refine model outputs • Maintain academic rigor and precision in all chemistry content used for AI training and evaluation Ideal Qualifications • PhD in Chemistry or a directly related field from a top-tier university • Undergraduate degree completed in the U.S., UK, Canada, or Europe (preferred) • Deep subject-matter expertise across chemistry subdomains • Exceptional writing and communication skills • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail • Teaching, research, or publication experience (preferred) Project Timeline • Start Date: Immediate • Duration: 1–2 months • Commitment: ~20 hours/week (with potential to extend up to 40 hours/week) • Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous — flexible working hours Compensation & Contract • Rate: $65–$85 USD/hr (depending on experience) • Independent contractor engagement • Payments: Processed daily via Stripe Connect Application & Onboarding Process • Upload your resume and application form • Complete a 15-minute AI-led interview about your background and expertise • Participate in a paid 3-hour work trial to demonstrate your ability to apply guidelines and deliver chemistry-specific output PS: Mercor team reviews applications daily.
