[Remote] Compliance and Ethics Counsel

Legal.io is a leading global technology company seeking an experienced Compliance & Ethics Counsel to support its Workplace Investigations team. The role involves conducting sensitive internal investigations related to harassment, discrimination, and employee conduct, while collaborating closely with HR and Legal stakeholders. Responsibilities • Conduct internal investigations under company anti-harassment, anti-discrimination, and workplace conduct policies. • Review documentation, allegations, emails, personnel files, and other relevant evidence. • Develop investigation strategies and timelines for assigned cases. • Interview employees and witnesses with professionalism, empathy, and neutrality. • Draft comprehensive investigation reports summarizing findings, analysis, and policy considerations. • Communicate outcomes and debrief relevant employees and stakeholders. • Maintain accurate case notes, upload documentation, and manage files within the company’s internal CRM/UCM systems. • Collaborate with HR Legal, HR partners, and cross-functional internal teams where appropriate. Skills • 3+ years of experience in workplace investigations, EEOC litigation, employment law, employee relations, or related areas. • Licensed attorney in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. • Experience in private practice or public sector environments is acceptable; in-house experience not required. • Demonstrated ability to conduct interviews independently with minimal oversight. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees across all levels. • High degree of integrity, discretion, and trustworthiness when handling highly confidential information. • Strong analytical, organizational, and writing skills. • Empathetic and able to build rapport quickly in sensitive conversations. • Comfortable assessing credibility and synthesizing complex factual scenarios. • Highly organized and able to manage multiple cases simultaneously. • Able to work flexibly across time zones (Eastern or Pacific preferred).
