They are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to develop algorithms for cancer research, analyze next-generation sequencing data, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to translate research into actionable insights.Responsibilities• Develop and optimize algorithms used to gain insight into cancer variation through analysis of next generation sequencing data• Design and conduct analysis to evaluate improvements in variant calling, classification, data modeling, and analysis systems.• Validate oncology assays to orthogonal methods.• Collaborate with scientists and clinicians to design and perform analyses on cancer clinical sequencing data in order to improve quality of care.• Work in interdisciplinary groups of scientists, engineers, and product developers to translate research into clinically actionable insights for our clients.• Produce high quality and detailed documentation for all projects.Skills• Experience and interest in translational cancer research and clinical genomics• Experience with scientific programming• Experience with relational data systems• Experience with algorithms development• Experience with statistical modeling• Experience deploying bioinformatics code within a clinical setting• Develop and optimize algorithms used to gain insight into cancer variation through analysis of next generation sequencing data• Design and conduct analysis to evaluate improvements in variant calling, classification, data modeling, and analysis systems• Validate oncology assays to orthogonal methods• Collaborate with scientists and clinicians to design and perform analyses on cancer clinical sequencing data in order to improve quality of care• Work in interdisciplinary groups of scientists, engineers, and product developers to translate research into clinically actionable insights for our clients• Produce high quality and detailed documentation for all projects• A completed Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Genomics or 2+ years of relevant experience• Computational skills using Python• Experience processing and analyzing DNA data• Experience working with next-generation sequencing dataCompany Overview• Tempus is making precision medicine a reality by applying AI in healthcare, deriving insights from our expansive library of clinical data and molecular data.
