Project Overview
I am a facilitator and educator launching a YouTube channel focused on relationship dynamics, mindfulness, and psychology. I am looking for a long-term editing partner to help turn my raw recordings into 7–10 minute high-impact visual essays.
My goal isn't just "flashy cuts"—it’s resonance. I want to build deep trust with my audience through clarity, smoothness, and rhythmic storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
High-Retention Pacing: Edit for educational depth, using pacing to emphasize "aha!" moments rather than just constant movement.
Face-in-Frame B-Roll: Master the "Ali Abdaal" style—when showing B-roll or diagrams, I want my face to mostly remain in the frame (PiP or split-screen) to maintain the human connection and trust.
Professional Signposting: Create clean, minimalist text overlays to anchor complex psychological concepts I present.
Strategic Metaphorical B-Roll: Source footage that matches the feeling and metaphors of the script, not just literal interpretations.
Rhythmic Audio Design: Layer music and sound cues to create a "flow" that guides the viewer's emotional state throughout the essay.
Style & References
The Goal: A blend of clean aesthetic and the narrative depth of a visual essay.
Vibe: Sophisticated, smart, grounded, and slightly psychological.
Tone: Clarity and smoothness are more important than "MrBeast-style" frantic energy.
The Ideal Candidate
You have a portfolio demonstrating experience with educational or essay-style content.
You understand how to use A-roll (Multi-angle) and B-roll to create a dynamic but focused viewing experience.
You are comfortable working with a developing relationship and dynamic requests - I am still learning what I want when working with an outside editor.
You are looking for a weekly pipeline and a consistent long-term collaboration.
Workflow
Raw Footage: about an hour of footage(singal DSLR camera or 2 cameras (secondary iphone camera)
Final Output: 7–10 minutes.
Frequency: 1 video per week.
Tools: Premiere Pro, After Effects, or DaVinci Resolve.
