About the position
The Wireless, IoT & Network Project Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the company’s wireless network and IoT-connected systems across all properties. This role ensures reliable, secure, and high-performing guest and operational WiFi services, leveraging Aruba Central for centralized management. In addition, the engineer leads network and IoT projects end-to-end—owning scope, timelines, stakeholder communication, and vendor execution—ensuring technology rollouts are delivered on time, within budget, and to standard across a distributed portfolio.
Responsibilities
• Wireless Network & Aruba Central Administration
• Administer and optimize company-wide wireless infrastructure using Aruba Central, including configuration templates, group policies, firmware lifecycle management, and alerting.
• Monitor wireless performance, capacity, and coverage; proactively identify and resolve issues impacting guest and staff connectivity.
• Execute RF planning, tuning, and site-level optimization to improve signal quality and reduce interference.
• Maintain consistent WLAN standards across all properties, ensuring alignment with corporate configurations and security policies.
• WiFi Service Management
• Own end-to-end reliability and user experience of guest WiFi, including bandwidth allocation, captive portal behavior, segmentation, and service-level performance.
• Partner with property teams to troubleshoot escalated guest WiFi issues quickly and professionally.
• Deliver ongoing improvements that raise guest satisfaction and reduce ticket volume.
• IoT Integrations & Network Enablement
• Design and support network integration for IoT devices and systems (e.g., smart locks, cameras, sensors, HVAC/energy management, kiosks, signage, etc.).
• Implement secure network segmentation and access controls for IoT, protecting core systems while enabling device functionality.
• Collaborate with application, cyber, and operations teams to validate device interoperability, performance, and supportability before large-scale rollout.
• Project Management & Delivery Leadership
• Lead wireless, IoT, and telecom projects from initiation through closeout, including requirements gathering, scope definition, scheduling, risk tracking, and status reporting.
• Build project plans, milestones, and rollout playbooks for multi-site deployments.
• Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.
• Manage change control, cutover planning, and post-deployment validation to ensure minimal disruption to operations and guests.
• Produce clear executive-ready updates on progress, blockers, costs, and outcomes.
• Vendor / MSP / Telecom Oversight
• Act as the technical and project lead for vendor management, including MSPs, telecom carriers, and IoT solution partners.
• Define project requirements, review proposals/SOWs, validate deliverables, and ensure vendors meet SLAs and timelines.
• Coordinate telecom circuits, failover design, and carrier performance oversight to support stable connectivity across properties.
• Maintain accurate vendor documentation, inventories, pricing, and escalation paths.
• Documentation, Standards, and Continuous Improvement
• Maintain network diagrams, configuration standards, SOPs, and property-specific wireless/IoT documentation.
• Track recurring incidents and implement root-cause fixes to reduce downtime.
• Recommend upgrades, tooling, and architecture improvements to support growth and modernization.
Requirements
• 5–10 years of progressive experience in wireless networking and enterprise network support, preferably in hospitality, multi-site retail, or similarly distributed environments.
• Hands-on experience with Aruba Central managing enterprise wireless deployments.
• Strong wireless networking background (WLAN design, RF fundamentals, roaming, interference mitigation, troubleshooting).
• Experience supporting guest-facing/WiFi or other high-availability customer networks.
• Proven success integrating and supporting IoT systems on enterprise networks (segmentation, device onboarding, secure access).
• Experience with vendor management, including MSP management and telecom oversight.
• Demonstrated project management experience leading multi-site technical deployments, coordinating stakeholders, and tracking scope/schedule/budget.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences.
Nice-to-haves
• Aruba certifications (ACMA/ACMP/ACSP or equivalent).
• Familiarity with NAC / zero-trust segmentation and network security best practices.
• Experience with captive portals, PMS integrations, or WiFi analytics platforms.
• Formal PM exposure and tools.
