Sony Corporation of America, located in New York, NY, is the U.S. headquarters of Sony Group Corporation. They are seeking a Tax Accountant to support their global tax department, focusing on state tax compliance, reporting, and audits processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare 700 business personal property returns for 39 reportable states covering over 200 various jurisdictions
- Log and review over 400 property tax assessment notices, 500 property tax bills, and any open appeals
- Prepare quarterly and annualized NY commercial rent tax returns, billboard and signage familiarity preferred
- Prepare various other state and local tax returns including San Francisco gross receipts/homeless tax, annual reports, and Delaware Franchise Tax
- Administer and oversee data related to the formation, dissolution and ownership structure of legal entities within the tax group
- Assist with training of affiliates worldwide, interact with accounting, finance, and operating business unit teams
- Maintain the tax department’s compliance calendar
- Keep current on state legislative changes and developments
- Facilitate and champion process improvement initiatives within the tax group to enhance efficiency through the introduction of innovative solutions and collaboration with other tax specialty groups
- Honesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above
Skills
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Taxation or equivalent experience required
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience of public accounting and/or corporate tax experience from a large corporation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, high degree of accuracy and self-review, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline driven dynamic environment
- Proficient with MS Office and automation solutions a plus
- Must be eligible to work unrestricted in the USA
- Entertainment industry experience preferred
