We are looking for an experienced HR professional with deep knowledge of California employment and Labour laws to support a growing, multi-location business operating in California.
This role requires hands-on experience with California compliance and the ability to provide practical, business-focused HR guidance.
Scope of Work may include:
California wage & hour compliance (meal/rest breaks, overtime, exemptions)
Employee classification (W-2 vs 1099)
Drafting and updating employee handbooks and HR policies
Guidance on employee discipline, performance management, and terminations
Harassment prevention and workplace conduct policies
Support for HR processes across multiple locations or entities
Ongoing HR advisory support as needed
Requirements:
5+ years of HR experience with a strong focus on California
Solid understanding of California Labor Code and HR best practices
Experience supporting businesses
Ability to work independently and provide clear, actionable guidance
HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) are a plus
