We’re looking for 1-2 senior backend engineers who will report directly to the CEO/Head of Product and scale Jupiter from 700 creators to 10k+ and a $20M run rate within the next 2 years. Your work will have a direct impact on product and business growth in a high-autonomy, high-trust environment. Some areas where we are currently experimenting: Generative Engine Optimization, SEO, content generation from recipe videos and automatic social posting. What You’ll Do Work directly with the CEO and Head of Product to scale Jupiter’s marketplace Own key backend systems end-to-end, from design to deployment Deploy and monitor backend services in cloud environments (GCP) using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform Take product requirements (we use Linear) and turn them into technical solutions Design and implement backend services using Kotlin, Micronaut, and Spring frameworks Create RESTful APIs to expose backend services to frontend applications and third-party integrations Design and optimize relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Elasticsearch) databases Implement background jobs and event-driven architectures using RabbitMQ Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests You Might Be a Fit If You… 4+ years of backend development experience, focusing on JVM languages (Kotlin preferred but Java works too if you’re willing to switch to Kotlin) Are proficient in backend frameworks like Micronaut or Spring Have experience with relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Elasticsearch) databases Possess a solid understanding of object-oriented, functional, and reactive programming paradigms Are experienced with cloud platforms (GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) Have strong knowledge of RESTful API design and development Understand event/queue patterns (RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar) Excel at problem-solving and debugging Communicate and collaborate effectively Our Tech Stack Languages & Frameworks: Kotlin, Micronaut, Spring Databases: PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch Messaging: RabbitMQ Cloud & DevOps: GCP, Docker, Kubernetes What It’s Like to Work at Jupiter Experiment-driven culture: We measure success by the number of successful experiments run per month. Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $100k–$140k (depending on location, experience, and internal parity) Equity: 0.2%–0.5% options Remote-first: Work from anywhere.
