Job title: Network Engineer Consultant in Denver, CO at Point Solutions Group Company: Point Solutions Group Job description : Point Solutions Group is seeking a seasoned Network Engineer Consultant to support infrastructure modernization and security hardening efforts for a client in the oil, gas, and energy sector. The role involves hands-on engineering and design support across Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, and Palo Alto environments, with a focus on high availability, industrial connectivity, and secure remote access for field operations. Key Responsibilities: Consult on the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise and industrial network infrastructure across remote sites, data centers, and cloud-connected environments. Deploy and configure equipment from Cisco and Meraki (switching, routing, wireless), including SD-WAN and segmentation strategies. Implement and manage Fortinet and Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including advanced threat protection, IPS/IDS, and secure VPN tunnels. Support networking needs for remote facilities, SCADA systems, and operational technology (OT) segments, ensuring segmentation and zero-trust principles. Ensure compliance with internal security policies and industry regulations (e.g., NIST 800-82, ISA/IEC 62443, CIP if applicable). Conduct risk assessments and support audits involving network infrastructure and segmentation in ICS/SCADA environments. Collaborate with IT security and field operations to address both enterprise and edge networking challenges. Document all designs, configurations, changes, and procedures clearly and thoroughly. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of network engineering experience, with at least some consulting or project-based roles. Strong hands-on expertise with: - Cisco routing/switching (CCNA/CCNP level) - Meraki dashboard, wireless, and site networking - Fortinet FortiGate firewalls (VPN, UTM, IPS) - Palo Alto firewalls and security policies Proficient with L2/L3 protocols: VLANs, BGP, OSPF, NAT, ACLs, etc. Experience working in industrial or energy infrastructure environments, including remote locations. Ability to assess and secure mixed IT/OT networks. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications: CCNP, CMNA, NSE4+, PCNSE or equivalent.
