About the position
We are seeking a Lead AWS Architect to drive the architecture, migration strategy, and technical execution for an enterprise application modernization initiative.
The program involves migrating a low-code web application and database to AWS, establishing enterprise-grade Dev/QA/Prod environments, implementing SSO and multi-tenancy, integrating third-party systems, and transitioning AI/LLM functionality to IBM Watsonx (or equivalent).
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep AWS expertise, strong delivery ownership, and the ability to coordinate US and offshore engineering teams.
Responsibilities
• Define target-state AWS architecture for application and database migration.
• Design scalable cloud-native patterns using ECS/Fargate, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM.
• Establish multi-environment architecture (Dev, QA, Prod).
• Lead application modernization from low-code to microservices-based architecture.
• Oversee AI/LLM migration to IBM Watsonx (or equivalent).
• Architect Infrastructure-as-Code solutions (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Guide CI/CD pipeline design and release governance.
• Define monitoring, logging, and observability standards.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability.
• Implement cost-optimization strategies.
• Architect SSO and identity integrations.
• Define multi-tenancy and tenant isolation strategies.
• Ensure enterprise-grade security, encryption, and IAM controls.
• Support compliance alignment and audit readiness.
• Lead offshore and onshore engineering teams.
• Provide architecture reviews and code-level guidance.
• Manage technical risks and mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with client stakeholders and translate technical progress into business language.
• Maintain regular US time zone overlap.
Requirements
• 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture.
• 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
• Proven leadership in AWS migration or modernization programs.
• Deep expertise in ECS/Fargate, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM.
• Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience setting up Dev/QA/Prod environments and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience leading offshore teams.
