Job Summary: The Gift Shop Coordinator is responsible for the overall operation, presentation, and success of the Suquamish Museum gift shop. This includes planning and executing product selection, managing consignment relationships, leading promotional strategies, and maintaining an inviting retail environment that reflects the cultural values of the Suquamish Tribe. The position also plays a key role in inventory management, staff coordination, and reporting—all while upholding a visitor-centered approach that enhances the Museum experience. Major Responsibilities: • Oversee daily store presentation, ensuring display cases, counters, and merchandising remain clean, cohesive, and guest-ready • Develop and maintain store operation guides, including inventory input, display standards, and product handling • Manage monthly consignment reporting • Build and implement monthly artist outreach for consignment • Create and lead monthly store promotions • Coordinate store purchasing with the Marketing & Sales Coordinator • Coordinate inventory new product processing, quarterly counting, and post-inventory reconciliation • Generate a monthly store report with sales data, trends, top-selling items, and stock concerns • Analyze customer feedback to improve displays, product choices, and visitor engagement in alignment with cultural values. Required Qualifications and Skills • 3+ years of retail, merchandising, or store coordination experience preferred; or equivalent combination of customer service, retail operations, and inventory management experience. • Strong understanding of retail display principles and customer service best practices. • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, especially in managing overlapping responsibilities. • Proficiency in Square (or similar POS system), Microsoft Office Suite, and digital inventory systems. • Comfortable coordinating multiple team members, setting expectations, and working collaboratively across departments. • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft professional emails, reports, and internal procedures. • Initiative and creativity in developing store promotions, product ideas, and guest engagement strategies. • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in high-traffic or time-sensitive situations. • Understanding of Suquamish culture and values, and ability to present cultural products respectfully and knowledgeably. • Willingness to pursue professional development and cross-training (vendor relations, public speaking, cultural retail strategy). Job Conditions: • Work Schedule requires weekends • Public-facing role requiring professional appearance and conduct • Position involves standing for long periods and lifting product boxes (up to 30 lbs) • Must maintain confidentiality and exhibit professionalism in sensitive or culturally significant situations Position Details: Part Time (Thurs – Sun) $19 – $20 / hour Open to non-Native American applicants
