About the Role: Engineer, IT Infrastructure This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data Technology Group within the Information Technology Division at American Airlines. As an Engineer, IT Infrastructure, you will be responsible for executing both traditional and cloud-based infrastructure implementations based on designs from infrastructure architects. If you're passionate about IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, and DevOps, this is the perfect role for you. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert understanding of concepts related to server load balancing, WAS clustering, and other application scaling concepts. Troubleshoot and resolve middleware issues across development, testing, and production environments. Proactively monitor local and remote data center operations and hardware, including UPSs, air conditioning, power, facility security systems, and all data center processes and procedures. Foster a culture of sharing and collaboration among the team. Stay up-to-date with systems technology best practices and evolving technologies to maintain domain expertise and recommend improvements or changes. Support communication and response processes by responding to customers on infrastructure issues, support, and infrastructure status, and advising and escalating on any prolonged or significant issues. Manage and maintain Windows Active Directory, including DNS and Group Policies. Provide guidance to lower-level professionals and assist when and where necessary. Travel as required. Compulsory rotational schedule for available to work off-hours support. Requirements for Success Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training. 3 years of experience as a network or infrastructure engineer or administrator. Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training. 3+ years of experience as a network or infrastructure engineer or administrator. Skills, Licenses, and Certifications: Advanced ability to design strategically for current and future business conditions, including future technology and business architecture changes to create flexible, adaptable solutions. In-depth knowledge of IT business operations, systems requirements, and processes. Demonstrated expertise in the following: Server Administration - Linux (RHEL/CentOS 7/8) and Windows (2012/2016). Infrastructure as Code - Terraform, Python, Bash, and PowerShell. Cloud Technologies - Design, development, and delivery of cloud-native applications (Microsoft Azure, AWS, IBM Cloud). DevOps - CI/CD, GitHub, Artifactory, or Jenkins. Containerization - Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry. Server and Application Monitoring - Dynatrace, LogDNA, and SysDig. Ability to analyze complex issues and implement solutions or workarounds. Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously with a keen desire to learn and grow depth of knowledge. Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and influence best practices. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing needs and workplaces. Proficiency in Agile project management methodology, specifically within the infrastructure area.
