About the position
The Environmental Sustainability Lead at Humana is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategies and programs that promote sustainability within the workplace and contribute to a healthier planet. This role focuses on aligning sustainability initiatives with corporate goals, ensuring regulatory compliance, engaging stakeholders, and reporting on sustainability metrics to senior leadership.
Responsibilities
• Create and communicate a clear sustainability strategy for the corporation.
• Develop, implement and monitor sustainability policies, programs and initiatives that align with Humana's ESG platform.
• Ensure the strategy aligns with the company's overall business objectives and relevant standards.
• Monitor, report, and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability program implementations.
• Align proposals for sustainability projects with cost effectiveness and technical feasibility.
• Manage internal and external reporting as required.
• Vendor management of external strategic partnerships and associated contracts.
• Manage strategic relationships with suppliers and stakeholders for successful sustainability projects.
• Conduct corporate sustainability risk assessments.
• Propose and implement strategies to address environmental concerns such as energy use and pollution reduction.
• Evaluate the efficacy of sustainability programs and recommend improvements.
• Conduct research to identify environmental and sustainability concerns.
• Draft and prepare reports, presentations, and proposals for senior leaders and stakeholders.
• Prepare documentation for project funding for environmental initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations.
• Identify and facilitate training as needed.
• Manage energy procurement in deregulated markets.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, business management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in corporate sustainability.
• Deep understanding of SBTi, RECs, and Renewable Energy programs.
• Experience or formal training in GHG Protocol and sustainability reporting frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience in vendor management of external strategic partnerships.
• Ability to create, interpret, and execute a budget.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
