NSB Omega is looking for a Data Center Mechanical Engineer for our Client in Texas. Assignment Description| Responsibilities: The Data Center Mechanical Engineer will focus on the following as well as other job-related duties and/or projects as assigned. Participate and support design, construction, commissioning and operational activities related with cooling systems for our liquid-cooled High Performance Computer (HPC) data centers, including but not limited to thermal engineering, HVAC, plumbing, piping and pumping systems Develop, review and validate specifications, calculations, drawings and other technical information from external parties like consultants, equipment manufacturers, engineering firms or commissioning agents Perform or support any technical efforts regarding calculations, simulations, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and thermal analysis to optimize liquid and air cooling and airflow Monitor real-time system performance, making sure the site operates within allowed parameters and to the highest degree of reliability and utilization, determining present and future system capacity, real-time system limitations and implementing energy-efficient solutions that maximize value for the company Investigate and troubleshoot mechanical issues when these arise, performing root cause analysis and proposing corrective and preventing actions conducive to the highest levels of uptime and reliable operation Support Asset Management and Maintenance initiatives, like development of life-cycle plans, maintenance strategies and tactics, reliability, spare parts management, maintenance management and execution Develop as required technical documentation like for plans, checklist, specification, reports, procedures and standards that support the engineering function, from design to construction, commissioning and operations In charge of any record technical documentation regarding cooling systems, its site integration, operation and maintenance, ensuring its completeness, accuracy and availability for consultation Coach and provide feedback to other staff on cooling, mechanical and piping matters Desired Skills, Qualifications and Competencies include: Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution with at least 3 years of experience in Data Centers and/or mission critical facilities design, construction or operations Knowledge and demonstrated expertise on: Large-scale water and air-cooled chilled water cooling plant design, construction and control, including their flow diagrams, P&IDs and sequence of operations Fluid dynamics, pumping and compression principles and design Thermal, energy and HVAC principles and load calculation software tools Mechanical systems integration, controls, operations and maintenance, including data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools and solutions Good leadership skills and interpersonal relations in order to lead by influencing Excellent verbal and written communication skills to cater to different audiences with diverse backgrounds, from junior staff to senior leadership Self-driven individual, with attention to detail and ability to execute high-quality work with limited direction Ability to deal comfortably with uncertainty and limited resources or information The following design skills are not mandatory but they are considered a plus: Relevant ASHRAE Handbooks/Standards, ASPE design handbooks, IPC codes, IEEC codes and any other relevant to data centers and mission critical facilities, their safety and compliance Knowledge of Computerized Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Solidworks and/or other relevant design tools Location Remote, TX (With Site visits to Childress, TX.)
