Schedule & Availability • Approx. 20 hours per week, with flexibility to increase to 25 hours during heavier production periods. • Days of the week are flexible but must align with internal newsletter production and review timelines. • Must be available during core business hours in the Central Time zone for collaboration and reviews. Candidate Requirements • 3+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or closely related fields. • Proven writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for internal audiences. • Comfortable conducting internal interviews and turning notes into polished, engaging narratives. • High attention to detail for proofreading, formatting, quality control, and link testing. • Experience using Microsoft Office tools and at least one CMS or intranet platform. • Able to provide written work samples that demonstrate internal communications capability. • Located in, or able to reliably work in alignment with, the Central Time zone (preference) or Eastern Time. • Prior experience in healthcare or a similarly regulated industry is a plus. This freelance Communications Specialist role is ideal for a meticulous internal communications professional who enjoys hands-on execution. The specialist will own day-to-day newsletter production, content creation, proofreading, and digital posting across internal platforms, ensuring timely and accurate communication to teammates across the organization.
