Job DescriptionUL Standards & Engagement is seeking a Graphic Design Intern to join our growing team. The Graphic Design Intern works with the Multimedia Design Specialist and others on ULSE's Communications team to create impactful visual content disseminated to internal and external stakeholders. This is a hybrid opportunity based in our Evanston, IL office. This 3-month summer internship (June 2nd - August 15th) provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a nonprofit safety standards environment, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop valuable skills in graphic and multimedia design. UL Standards & Engagement: At UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE), we expand the boundaries of safety science to create a more secure and sustainable world. For more than a century, we have created new safety standards and shared our findings with academia, scientists, manufacturers, and policymakers across industries. We identify critical safety and sustainability issues, asking tough questions because we believe a safer world begins with knowledge.Essential Functions, Roles, and Responsibilities Work closely with internal team members to plan, design, refine, and execute print and multimedia deliverables that engage, inform, and reinforce our key messaging.Assist in the design of reports, create social media graphics, infographics, presentations, flyers, and other assets to support the needs of our organization. The ability to edit photos and create simple animations is a plus.Learn and apply our brand guidelines in all asset creation to create a consistent image of our organization.Help maintain and update a library of images and brand assets.Perform other duties as directed.Professional Competencies Familiarity with design software and technologies, including the Adobe Creative Cloud applicationsExperience in layout designStrong creativity and analytical skillsAttention to detail and a keen eye for aestheticsEagerness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.Excellent communication and teamwork skillsExperience and Education Requirements Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in graphic design or a related field (Recent graduates may also be considered.)Strong interest in the non-profit sector and research related to safety, social or environmental issues.Proficiency with graphic content creation tools to create, design, develop, and deliver graphic designs, and the ability to learn new software applications is must.
