Director, Assessment and Accountability (Telework Allowed)

About the position Responsibilities • Serve as internal lead on CCSSO's core priority area of modernizing the education system, focusing on assessment and accountability. • Survey and track state progress and needs in assessment and accountability, leveraging findings to inform programming. • Lead coordination and collaboration for CCSSO's peer-to-peer learning collaboratives related to assessment and accountability. • Design and implement direct supports to states in assessment and accountability, including webinars and cross-state consultancies. • Advise on CCSSO's programmatic work in teaching and learning to ensure alignment with priorities and state needs. • Share learnings across the field by representing CCSSO with education organizations and disseminating policy briefs. • Develop recommendations for CCSSO's supports to states in assessment and accountability, collaborating with the Development Team for funding proposals. • Manage development of programming for the annual National Conference on Student Assessment. • Manage partnerships with national boards and organizations focused on assessment and accountability. Requirements • Bachelor's degree preferred plus a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. • Working knowledge and experience in education policy with a focus on state assessment and accountability policy. • Experience in managing teams to achieve project goals. • Experience in managing contracts and programs of considerable size and complexity. • Experience in working collaboratively with state education agencies, U.S. Department of Education, non-profit organizations, and philanthropic foundations. • Experience in project management, including developing workplans and monitoring progress. • Ability to work in a team environment while demonstrating problem-solving skills independently. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Nice-to-haves • Master's degree desired but not required. • Political acumen and evidence of strategic thinking capability. • Energetic and motivated with the ability to set priorities and work under pressure.
