Remote, USA Full-time
Pay: $132,000.00 - $177,000.00 per year Why This Is a Great Opportunity • Join a modern proprietary trading firm where DevOps directly impacts live trading performance. • Work shoulder to shoulder with software engineers, traders, and quants on high-performance, low-latency systems. • Own automation, tooling, and infrastructure across on-prem, co-located data centers, and containerized environments. • Competitive base salary plus meaningful discretionary bonus, with strong benefits and daily catered lunch. • Relocation to Chicago is supported, with clear growth opportunities as the firm continues to scale. Location • On-site in Chicago, IL in a highly collaborative trading environment, with the potential for some hybrid flexibility after an initial ramp-up period based on team needs. Note • You must have at least 2 years of full-time DevOps, SRE, or similar experience in high-performance environments, strong Linux and scripting skills, and be able to work on-site in Chicago. Fully remote is not an option. About Our Client Our client is a Chicago-based proprietary trading firm that builds high-performance automated trading systems for global derivatives markets. Founded in 2011, they thrive on curiosity, innovation, and collaboration rather than bureaucracy and politics. They believe the financial markets offer an ideal arena to continually learn, iterate, and compete, and they hire people who are excited to push technical systems to new levels of speed, reliability, and scale. Job Description • Collaborate with developers, traders, and quantitative researchers to ensure the stability and performance of trading systems and core infrastructure. • Design, build, and maintain automation for workflows, data pipelines, and system operations. • Create tools that improve system reliability, observability, and operational efficiency. • Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, networks, and operating systems in production and staging environments. • Deploy and configure applications using configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools. • Manage containerized environments and support deployments to on-premises and co-located data centers. • Support database administration, monitoring, and performance tuning as part of overall system health. • Implement and refine logging, metrics, and alerting to ensure rapid issue detection and response. • Document systems, procedures, and runbooks to support repeatable, high-quality operations. • Participate in on-call or rotation-based support for critical trading hours as needed. Qualifications • 2+ years of full-time, professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or a similar high-performance technology role. • Proven experience troubleshooting application, networking, and operating system issues in production environments. • Strong proficiency with both Windows and Linux, comfortable working in command-line and GUI environments. • Solid scripting skills in one or more languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Ruby. • Experience with containerization technologies, databases, and observability best practices. • Familiarity with data formats including JSON, XML, and Parquet. • Ability to manage shifting priorities, handle pressure, and communicate clearly with multiple teams. • Detail-oriented mindset with a strong emphasis on documentation and process. • Ability to work on-site in the Chicago office and lift up to 50 pounds when required. Why You’ll Love Working Here • Competitive base salary in the 132,000 to 177,000 range plus annual discretionary bonus. • Robust benefits package including multiple health plan options (PPO, HMO, HSA), dental, and vision coverage. • Relocation assistance if you are moving to Chicago. • Generous vacation policy, training opportunities, and continuing education support to keep your skills sharp. • Daily catered lunch, snacks, and beverages, along with discounted gym memberships. • Regular social events, group outings, and company parties, all in a casual dress environment. • Culture that values curiosity, continuous improvement, and collaboration, with minimal red tape and real ownership over your work.
