About the position The Medical Lab Technician at Ochsner Health is responsible for receiving and preparing specimens, performing analytical laboratory tests, and ensuring quality control procedures are followed. This role requires adherence to standard protocols and procedures while working under general supervision. The technician will also perform phlebotomy procedures and maintain confidentiality of patient information, contributing to the overall mission of serving and healing patients. Responsibilities • Receive and prepare specimens according to standard protocols and procedures. , • Perform analytical laboratory tests and calculations according to section requirements and protocols. , • Conduct quality control procedures required for test performance. , • Calibrate, maintain, and monitor laboratory equipment. , • Perform phlebotomy procedures as appropriate. , • Ensure confidentiality of patient-related information. , • Adhere to regulatory compliance guidelines and maintain competency. Requirements • Associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or military MLT certificate. , • ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification as Medical Lab Technician is required. , • Effective verbal and written communication skills. , • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to the role. Nice-to-haves • Hospital or Clinical Laboratory Testing experience.
