Business Analyst, Reinsurance Software Implementation (Discovery Phase) - Contract (3-6 Months, possibility of extension and conversion) Target hourly rate: ($45 - $75/hr) Overview We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Business Analyst with a deep understanding of the reinsurance industry to join our team for a new greenfield reinsurance system implementation. You will be a critical link between business stakeholders and the technical team, responsible for eliciting, documenting, and managing requirements for a system that will handle complex reinsurance operations. Your expertise in Reinsurance will ensure that the solution accurately reflects the nuances of our business, from ceded and assumed premium processing to claims recoveries and regulatory reporting. Key Responsibilities • Lead requirements-gathering sessions with business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), including reinsurance underwriters, actuaries, and claims professionals, to understand their current processes and challenges. • Analyze and document the full reinsurance lifecycle, including treaty administration, facultative certificates, and the flow of information across different departments. • Define and document functional and non-functional requirements for the new system, with a focus on core reinsurance functions such as: -Automated premium and commission calculations for proportional and non-proportional treaties. -The processing of ceded claims and reinsurance recoveries. -Generation of bordereaux and other critical financial statements. • Create detailed documentation, including user stories, process flows, and business requirements documents, ensuring a clear and accurate representation of the business needs. • Collaborate with the Solution Architect to translate complex reinsurance requirements into technical specifications and a logical system design. • Completed detailed analysis of 10+ years of Excel based reinsurance data building a holistic view of data and supporting the data migration plan definition • Assist the Project Manager in defining the scope and success criteria for the discovery phase, ensuring all critical reinsurance business cases are captured. Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related. • At least 3 years' experience working as a Business Analyst on reinsurance enterprise software implementation or system integration projects. • Significant and demonstrable knowledge of the reinsurance industry, including key concepts like treaty and facultative reinsurance, premium cessions and loss recoveries across both Ceded and Assumed business. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex business processes into manageable requirements. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both business and technical audiences. • Experience with a reinsurance management system is highly desirable. Other Information • Contractors may be hired on a W2 basis. • No agencies, please. • Position may require infrequent travel (to client sites).
