Billing/Follow-up Specialist -Government (Remote) - OR, WA, AK

About the position Responsibilities • Resolve insurance claim rejections/denials and non-payment of claims by payors. • Identify trends in billing and follow-up to expedite resolution of insurance accounts. • Draft appeals to insurance companies for reimbursement of owed monies. • Maintain daily account follow-up work lists while meeting productivity standards. • Ensure compliance with payer contracts and policies for claims processing. • Identify, research, and resolve credit balances, missing payments, payer recoupments, and unposted cash. • Process and maintain correspondence from patients and insurance companies regarding billing and payment. • Submit issues to coding for review to ensure compliance with organizational processes. • Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, co-workers, and supervisors. • Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree preferred. • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a billing or insurance account follow-up capacity required. • Formal training or college coursework from a medical coding accredited school may be considered in lieu of experience. • Experience with medical terminology required. • Knowledge of insurance processes and billing guidelines regulations required. • Proficient use of computers including Microsoft Office applications required. • Skilled in 10-key by touch and keyboarding required. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines required. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting required. Nice-to-haves • Coding knowledge preferred. • Epic experience preferred. • Medical Billing Certificate preferred. • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative preferred. • HealthStream Badge preferred.
