Position Summary and Opportunity: The Attorney will lead climate, energy, commercial and residential cases before administrative agencies and, if necessary, state and federal courts. The Attorney will also contribute to legal research and advocacy to advance legislative priorities. The Attorney will supervise the work of other attorneys, providing leadership and experience in all aspects of legal representation. This is a significant opportunity to both lead cases and mentor attorneys, and the successful candidate will be committed to excellence in both areas. Essential Responsibilities: Adams Broadwell Joseph & Cardozo is accepting applications for an Attorney with 10+ years of experience practicing Land Use and Environmental Law. Attorneys investigate, develop, and enforce the full scope of legal and regulatory issues associated with the permitting and approval of industrial, commercial and residential projects. This includes factual investigation, legal research, case development, record review, working with scientists, legal analysis and writing, oral advocacy and motion practice and brief writing. Attorneys represent clients before federal and state administrative and regulatory agencies, before municipalities and other local governmental agencies, in settlement negotiations, and in court. Attorneys also participate in general rulemaking and regulatory proceedings, as well as state and local legislative hearings. Essential Skills and Abilities: · Excellent research and analytic skills. · Outstanding and persuasive written or oral communication skills. · Ability to work effectively with technical experts, including with respect to new technologies and emerging climate and health threats. · Effective legal representation with 10+ years’ experience in environmental and/or public interest law. · Strong capacity for strategic thinking, including in designing and implementing advocacy that consistently obtains high-quality results. · Demonstrated initiative and creativity in approach with the ability to identify and develop new opportunities, combined with the ability to work collaboratively. · Experience and interest in guiding and mentoring attorneys at different levels of their career development to continually improve their effectiveness. · Strong desire to advocate for sustainable development that avoids or mitigates environmental harm and public service impacts while maximizing community benefits. · Demonstrated commitment to serving the public interest. · Ability to work collegially and contribute to a diverse, equitable and inclusive work culture. · Ability and willingness to travel as needed, including for case work, educational seminars, hearing appearances and meetings with clients. Salary is based on the number of years of relevant experience and location. The annual salary range for this role is $160,000 to 205,000. Actual pay will vary depending upon various factors, including relevant experience, skills, current business needs and market factors. The compensation range listed is just one component of Adams Broadwell Joseph & Cardozo’s package for employees.
